He attended college at Morehouse College to earn an accountant degree but after years working in the corporate industry he decided to go back to college (California State University, Los Angeles) to earn a high school teaching credential and a master’s degree in marine biology. His work on mussel ecology spanned Southern California to Vancouver Island B.C. He earned his PhD in Marine Environmental Biology at University of Southern California (USC), where he worked on gene expression in mussels. As a University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellow at UC-Irvine, Dr. Connor studied bioenergetics in mussels. His final postdoctoral position was at USC Medical School where he studied cell biology. Dr. Connor served two years as a Visiting Professor at California Lutheran University where he taught a variety of classes that span ecology to biochemistry. He joined the faculty of UC-Irvine in 2019 as a member of the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department. His research primarily focuses on the relationships between the environment and physiology using integrative approaches.
